Description Sèvres soft-paste covered bowl and stand (écuelle ronde tournée and a plateau rond - 3rd Size) painted with frieze riche deep blue borders and gilded patterns, roundels in blue and red, purple bows and ribbons with laurel leaves. The finial is formed of intertwined branches and leaves with gold berries. The centre of the stand has a complicated spiralled circular pattern of green and gold leaves.

Marks: Date letter N for 1766

Decorated and gilded by Pierre-Antoine Méreaud l' aîné, later père.

Covered Bowl 11cm High and 13cm Dia.
Stand 20cm Dia.

Literature: A. Sassoon, The J. Paul Getty Museum; Vincennes and Sèvres Porcelain pp. 814, for a similar painted écuelle by the same artist on a royal monogrammed piece for Louise-Marie of France. It is noted that, “ it is interesting to note that Méreaud painted the majority of these and other similarly decorated Sèvres porcelain wares"

Condition The stand has some restoration to one section
