Description
|
A fine pair of Vincennes plates (assiettes à godrons) painted in a pink palette, camieau rose, with detailed country scenes, one with an upturned wicker basket of eggs, a milk churn, and a lidded churn, the other with a wicker hod, a large pumpkin or gourd (?) and a large wicker basket with bunches of radishes on the top, sticks of celery on the ground, and a small family of maggots or worms.
Both are marked with interlaced L’s and a central dot. Painter’s mark of a script y in the foot-rim, possibly Yvernel (Active 1750–9), painter of landscapes.

Small graze to one edge of gilded line that has been re-gilded.
