|
A rare Japanese porcelain 'Imari' barber's bowl, gilt and painted in iron-red, black and underglaze blue with a jardinière of chrysanthemums on a fenced terrace, the sloping everted rim with retreats nestling on rocky riverbanks, separated at three regular intervals with a panel containing a strutting cockerel, and on the reverse with a band of meandering peonies below three detached branches of prunus.
Late 17th/early 18th century.
